Solbiate Arno is a municipality ( comune ) in the province of Varese in the Lombardy region .

geography

The municipality is located about 10.5 kilometers south-southwest of Varese on the Torrente Arno and covers an area of ​​3.01  km² . The neighboring municipalities are Albizzate , Carnago , Caronno Varesino , Jerago con Orago and Oggiona con Santo Stefano .

history

The community was incorporated in the Contado del Seprio, and in 1185 it fell under the control of the Milanese. At the time of the struggle between Torriani and Visconti , the latter took control of the north-central Insubria and, after the fall of Castel Seprio, formed the feud of Gallarate , into which Solbiate was introduced.
