The municipality is located about 14 kilometers northwest of Varese in Valcuvia and belongs to the Comunità montana Valli del Verbano . It has an area of ​​5.93  km² . The Comacchio fraction belongs to Cuvio . The neighboring municipalities are Azzio , Barasso , Casalzuigno , Castello Cabiaglio , Cocquio-Trevisago , Comerio , Cuveglio , Gavirate and Orino .
