Origgio is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) in the province of Varese in Lombardy .

geography

The municipality includes the fractions Cascina Muschiona, Cascina Broggio, Villa Regina and is located about 28 kilometers southeast of Varese , about 19 kilometers northwest of Milan . Origgio borders directly on the metropolitan city of Milan . The neighboring municipalities are Caronno Pertusella , Cerro Maggiore (MI), Lainate (MI), Nerviano (MI), Saronno and Uboldo .

history

From Oleoductus, the Roman name of Origgio, came the Via Varesina , which connected Mediolanum ( Milan ) with Luganum ( Lugano ) and led through Baretium ( Varese ).

Origgio appears with different names on different historical documents: Oleoductus, Oleoductum, Uduluctum, Uduluctum and Urugio.
