Masciago Primo (in the local dialect Masciàgh ) is a municipality ( comune ) in northwestern Lombardy in the province of Varese in northern Italy . The community has 303 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

geography

The municipality is located about 17 kilometers north-northwest of Varese in the Parco regional Campo dei Fiori and belongs to the Comunità Montana Valli del Verbano . It covers an area of ​​1.95  km² . Masciago Primo includes the Mondada and Muniscione fractions. The first written mention of the village can be found in an act from 1176, which reports the fact that a local named Montenario de Masciago was a judge or lawyer for Emperor Frederick I (HRR) .
