Gavirate is an Italian commune ( comune ) in the province of Varese in the Lombardy region .
geography
The municipality is located about nine kilometers west-northwest of Varese between the northern shore of Lake Varese and the Parco del Campo dei Fiori . The covers an area of 13.34 km² . The groups Groppello , Oltrona al Lago and Voltorre belong to Gavirate . The neighboring municipalities are Barasso , Bardello , Besozzo , Biandronno , Casciago , Cocquio-Trevisago , Comerio , Cuvio and Varese.
