Cislago is an Italian commune ( comune ) in the province of Varese in the Lombardy region .

geography

The municipality is located about 30 kilometers from Milan and about 40 kilometers from Varese south of the Parco Pineta di Appiano Gentile and covers an area of ​​10.92  km² . The Cascina Visconta , Massina , Mombello and Santa Maria fractions belong to Cislago . Cislago borders the metropolitan city of Milan and the province of Como . The neighboring municipalities are Gerenzano , Gorla Minore , Limido Comasco (CO), Mozzate (CO), Rescaldina (MI) and Turate (CO).

history

Cislago is part of the Golasecca culture . Some finds show an early settlement. In the Middle Ages was the locality whose names are evidenced by a document of 998 of cistellum derived, under the rule of the Visconti .
