Rete 4 (Italian for "Network 4") is a private television station from Italy . He belongs to the Mediaset group of the politician Silvio Berlusconi .

Rete 4 is the third TV chain of the Mediaset group. For a long time only two were allowed, so Rete 4 was threatened with shutdown in spring 2004 after a transition period. However, the then Prime Minister Berlusconi had a law passed shortly beforehand that allowed Mediaset to continue operating the third chain.

Rete 4 is broadcast across Italy via a television network, in addition to analog broadcasting for some time now in DVB-T . Rete 4 can also be received in Germany via the Hotbird satellite .

criticism
The Mediaset group was criticized for one-sided reporting, particularly during election campaign times. The program TG4 was therefore fined 200,000 euros by the Italian media regulator.
