Kibbel-Kabbel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kibbel-Kabbel is a game of skill related to cricket and Guli Danda for outdoor use.

The game is played with the kibbel , a round piece of wood that is about 10 cm long and sharpened on both sides, which must be thrown or beaten as far away as possible with the kibble , a stick. In Germany the game was especially popular in the north, in the USA it was played as Peewee .

material

For this game you need a round piece of wood about 10 cm long with a diameter of about 2.5 cm as a kibbel, which is tapered at its ends , and a 60–70 cm long stick as a kibble. In addition, in the solid ground a sufficiently large play area is a small, about 15-20 cm long, 3-4 cm wide and deep hollow with an approximately V-shaped cross-section as the time to apply.

regulate

In addition to skill, arithmetic (adding and multiplying, occasionally subtracting) is also practiced in the game. The player is inside , the catcher is outside . Before the game starts, rules are set, including who starts as a player and who wins if you reach 500 or 1,000 points first.

To do this, place the kibble across the mark and throw it out as far as possible by the player with the stick, the kibble, so that the kibble is not caught by the catcher. The (mostly several) "catchers" line up in a row on the likely flight path of the kibble.

From there, where the kibble is lying or has been caught, the kibble lying across the hollow must now be thrown from the catcher, that is, hit with the kibble, because then it is changed. If the kibble has not been hit, the player has three attempts to knock the kibble as far as possible away from the hollow from where it was when it was thrown, because the number of steps counted back counts points. To do this, he has to make it jump up by hitting one of the pointed ends of the kibble and then knock it away in the air with the kibble. If he even succeeds in knocking the kibble up two or three times with the kibble (i.e. holding it in the air) before knocking it away, the number of steps is doubled or tripled. If he has succeeded in such a double with the three possibilities, then the number of steps counts four times as points etc. If the kibble has not jumped up or has not been hit in the three possibilities, a change is made.

Rating

The catcher must try to catch the kibble that has been thrown out of the mark, whereby he can score points depending on the agreement - for example by catching 25 with both hands, 50 with the right hand, 100 with the left. If you catch the kibble with your mouth, you get 250 points, with the eye even 450 points.

Depending on the agreement, the successful catch is rewarded by the fact that the catcher can take three steps or jumps at a time before throwing it. In addition, 50 points can be gained with a shuttle , whereby the kibble must remain lying lengthways in the time when thrown.

variants

Instead of the individual players, the game can also be played with two teams , with the next player on the inside team having a turn when it is thrown. Only when the last of this team has been thrown off do players and catchers change.
