Marzio is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) in the province of Varese in the Lombardy region .

geography

The municipality is located at the foot of the mountain of the same name with a view over Lake Lugano and Switzerland . The municipality covers an area of ​​1.86  km² . The place is at an altitude of 728 meters above sea level. The neighboring municipalities of Marzio are Brusimpiano , Cadegliano-Viconago , Cuasso al Monte , Lavena Ponte Tresa and Marchirolo .

history

The village is located between Valganna and Valceresio and was affected by the Italian defense system towards Switzerland, the so-called Linea Cadorna , of which several works can still be seen today.
