Porto Ceresio is a municipality in the province of Varese in the Lombardy region on a small bay on Lake Lugano across from Switzerland .

The municipality includes the fractions of Cà del Monte , Ronco Falcione , Monte Grumello , Monte Casolo , Poncia , Selva Piana , Case Moro and Albero di Sella . The neighboring communities are Besano , Brusimpiano and Cuasso al Monte in Italy and Brusino Arsizio , Meride and Morcote in the canton of Ticino .
Porto Ceresio has an area of 4.8 km² and a population density of 639.17 inhabitants per km². It lies at 280 m above sea level. M. The height of the municipality ranges from 210 m to 955 m above sea level. M., so the difference from the lowest to the highest point is 745 m.

Since 1894, Porto Ceresio station has been the northern terminus of the Varese-Porto Ceresio railway line, originally managed by the Mediterranean network and then handed over to the state railways for management.
