The Varese – Porto Ceresio railway is a branch line in Lombardy . It connects the city of Varese with the town of Porto Ceresio on Lake Lugano .

The line was opened on July 18, 1894. In 1902 the line was electrified with a conductor rail, as part of the " Ferrovie Varesine ".

Today (2011) the route is interrupted due to renovation work. A new line from Arcisate station to Stabio (and on to Como and Lugano ) is under construction in 2018.
