Brusimpiano is an Italian commune ( comune ) in the province of Varese in the Lombardy region .
geography
The village of Brusimpiano, located at 289 m asl , lies on the flood plain of the Trullo torrent , which protrudes into the western arm of Lake Lugano , at the foot of Monte Derta . The Barbengo quarter of the city of Lugano in Ticino is on the opposite lakeshore . The district of Brusimpiccolo is located in the southern part of the alluvial plain and has now fully merged with Brusimpiano. A little above the village on Monte Castelletto extends the Ardena fraction at 473 m slm . In the extreme south of the municipality lies the Montelago-San Gottardo (also Villaggio Montelago), which is divided in two by the stream from the Valle Seranno, at 300 m slm slightly above the lake shore opposite Morcote .
The community has an area of 5 km² . The neighboring communities are Caslano , Cuasso al Monte , Lavena Ponte Tresa , Lugano (CH), Marzio , Morcote (CH) and Porto Ceresio .
