Busseto is a municipality in the province of Parma in Emilia-Romagna with 6875 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). Busseto is known as the birthplace and home of Giuseppe Verdi , who was born in the village of Le Roncole (today incorporated into Busseto under the name Roncole Verdi ). Busseto also received great national attention in 1976 when part of the shooting for Bernardo Bertolucci's feature film 1900 ( Novecento ) took place here.

In addition to the main town Busseto, the municipality includes nine, all of them rural districts (Contrada della Chiesa, Frescarolo, Madonna Prati, Roncole Verdi , Samboseto, San Rocco, Sant'Andrea, Semoriva and Spigarolo). The entire municipality is located in the completely flat, intensively agricultural Bassa Parmense , the part of the Po Valley belonging to the province of Parma . The Villa Pallavicino is a Renaissance building, also built by the Pallavicino , which was laid out in a spacious park outside the city walls of Busseto.
