Fontanellato is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 7092 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Parma in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 16 kilometers northwest of Parma and about 9 kilometers east-northeast of Fidenza .
Attractions
The Labirinto della Masone in the country was built in 2004-2015 by Franco Maria Ricci with fast-growing bamboo around one of several art museum buildings based on ancient Roman mosaics as a model. 3 km (wrong) paths cover 5000 m² in a square of around 300 × 300 m. The opening was on May 29, 2015.
Together with the books edited by Ricci and the complete works of the Italian printer Giambattista Bodoni (1740–1813), the library comprises over 15,000 works. The sculpture, painting and furniture collection dates from the 16th to 20th centuries. Century.
The Rocca Sanvitale is one of the city's sights. The moated castle Rocco Sanvitale, which is surrounded by a moat and accessible via a drawbridge, was inhabited until 1948. The first work to build the took place in the 13th century. In the 15th century, the construction was largely completed. Today the castle houses a museum and several city government offices.
history
The origins of the community are obscure. In 1124 the Fontanellato fortifications were built. The place also gains importance through its Marian shrine, which dates back to 1512.

The A1 Autostrada runs through the municipality from Milan in the direction of Bologna . State Road 9 (the ancient Via Emilia ) forms the southern border of the municipality .
