Corniglio is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 1787 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Parma in Emilia-Romagna . The municipality is located about 34 kilometers south-southwest of Parma on the Parma River and borders directly on the province of Massa-Carrara . Parts of the municipality belong to the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park .

history

For the first time a village of the municipality is mentioned in 894 ( curtem de Cornialum in finibus Tusciae ). As a fiefdom, the community and its villages belong to the Bishop of Parma.
