Fornovo di Taro is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5996 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Parma in the Emilia-Romagna region . The municipality is located about 22 kilometers southwest of Parma on the Taro .

history

The Battle of Fornovo took place on July 6, 1495. A coalition army led by the Venetians defeated the French army that had invaded Italy, so that the French had to withdraw from northern Italy until further notice.
