At the beginning of the 13th century Fiorenzuola became a free commune and from the 14th century it belonged with interruptions to the rule of Milan . In 1441 Filippo Maria Visconti gave it to the Pallavicino family as a fiefdom, who kept it until the 16th century. At that time, many Jews from Cremona and Piacenza settled in Fiorenzuola , and the place experienced an economic boom. At the end of the 16th century he came to the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza under Pier Luigi II Farnese , after 1731 to the Bourbons until the Italian unification . Fiorenzuola received the addition to its name in 1865. From 1860 to 1927 the city was the capital of the district of the same name .
