Monterosi is a municipality with 4782 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Viterbo in the Italian region of Lazio .

geography

Monterosi is 41 km north of Rome and 37 km southeast of Viterbo . It is located on the edge of the Monti Sabatini north of Lake Bracciano . Lake Monterosi ( Lacus Janulae in ancient times ) is of volcanic origin and is located on the northern edge of the municipality.

The neighboring municipalities are Nepi , Sutri and Trevignano Romano .

Monterosi is on the Via Cassia , which is two lanes from the Grande Raccordo Anulare up to here. At Monterosi there is a small airfield ( Aviosuperficie Umiltà ) for general aviation .
