The Sabatiner Mountains (Italian. Monti Sabatini ) are a low mountain range in the Italian region of Latium . It is located about 30 km north of Rome , between the valley of the Tiber and the Tyrrhenian Sea . They enclose the Bracciano lake .

The Sabatine Mountains were formed by the volcanic activity of the Vulcano Sabatino in the period 600,000 to 40,000 years ago. The craters of the Caldera of Sacrofano and the Valle Baccano as well as the crater lakes of Lago di Martignano and Lago di Monterosi still bear witness to this. Hot mineral springs and gas leaks on its banks still bear witness to the volcanic origin.
