Sacrofano is a municipality in the metropolitan city of Rome in the Italian region of Lazio with 7758 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located 32 km north of Rome .
geography
Sacrofano is located on the slope of Monte Musino, which is of volcanic origin, between the Monti Sabatini and the valley of the Tiber . The municipality belongs to the Parco Regionale Veio .
history
The place originally belonged to the Ager Veientanus, the area of the Etruscan city Veji and came in the fourth century BC. In Rome. In 755 Eustathius donated the place to Santa Maria Maggiore . From the 14th century Sacrofano came successively to the noble families Savelli , Orsini and Chigi .

politics
Valter Casagrande was elected mayor in May 2003 and confirmed in office in April 2008. With the election on May 26, 2013, Tommaso Luzzi succeeded him as mayor.
