Genazzano is a municipality in the metropolitan city of Rome in the Italian region of Lazio with 5805 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located 58 kilometers east of Rome .

Genazzano is located on the southern slope of the Monti Prenestini east of Palestrina .

It is a member of the Comunità Montana dei Castelli Romani e Prenestini .

Place of pilgrimage

Genazzano is a well-known place of pilgrimage in Italy , which pilgrims visit to pray in the local pilgrimage church ( Santuario della Madonna del Buon Consiglio ) in front of the late medieval image of the Mother of Good Counsel . The pilgrimage to Genazzano has been documented since 1467.

Community partnerships
