Carpineto Romano is an Italian commune in the metropolitan city of Rome in the Lazio region . It has 4278 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

geography

Carpineto Romano is located in the center of the Monti Lepini , a mountain range between the Pontine plain and the Saccotal . It is 72 km southeast of Rome and 47 km southwest of Frosinone .

Since the Middle Ages, the town has been divided into the Dammonte district , around the Palazzo Pecci on a hill, and Dabballe in the valley below. These in turn are divided into the seven historic Rioni San Pietro, Jo Lago, Jo Casteglio (Dammonte) and SanGiacomo, Jo Moro, San Agostino and Jo Curso (Dabballe). The place is a member of the Comunità Montana Monti Lepini .

The neighboring municipalities are Bassiano ( LT ), Gorga (RM), Maenza (LT), Montelanico , Norma (LT), Roccagorga (LT), Sezze (LT) and Supino ( FR ).

Carpineto is on the Strada regional 609 Carpinetana (SR 609), which connects Colleferro in the Sacco valley with Priverno . The next motorway entrance, on the A1 Autostrada del Sole , is in Colleferro, as is the next train station on the Rome – Naples line.

Matteo Battisti ( PD ) was elected mayor in June 2014. His center-left alliance also has the majority in the municipal council with 8 out of 12 seats. He replaced Quirino Briganti ( PD ), who was no longer running.
