Attractions

  • The large, but not very representative designed Palazzo Conti was built in the 13th-14th centuries. Century erected. Inside, however, it is characterized by numerous wall frescoes in the mannerist grotesque style, for example in the vault of the courtyard entrance and in the loggia: They were created around 1598 under Lotario II Conti, the second Duke of Poli. His apartment on the first floor contains halls with a similar fresco design, which also includes vedute and coats of arms. The town hall is housed behind a portico in the east wing. The palace chapel is integrated in the low right side wing.
  • Above the ducal palace is the convent of Padri Scolopi with the church of Santo Stefano. It goes back to the 10th century. Its apse is frescoed with a crucifixion of Christ attributed to Taddeo Zuccari .
  • In the center of the village there is the parish church of S. Pietro Apostolo with an unusual bell tower on which a high, pagoda-like top sits.
  • In the west, in front of the town center, lies the Villa Catena, a compact building belonging to the late Renaissance period, which was built under Lotario II. It was owned by the film producer Dino de Laurentiis for a long time in the post-war period and is in need of restoration.
