Castel San Pietro Romano is an Italian commune in the metropolitan city of Rome in the Lazio region with 853 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is 49 kilometers east of Rome .

In the ancient Arx Praenestina (today Castel San Pietro Romano) a castle was built around 980, which later belonged to the Colonna .

Castel San Pietro Romano is located on the summit of Monte Ginestro on the edge of the Monti at the site of the acropolis of ancient Praeneste , today's Palestrina . It is a member of the Comunità Montana Monti Sabini e Tiburtini .
