Cineto lies on the eastern slope of the Monti Lucretili above the valley of the Aniene and belongs to the Comunità Montana Valle dell'Aniene .

The neighboring towns are Mandela , Percile , Riofreddo , Roviano and Vallinfreda .

history

Cineto was inhabited by the Aequers in pre-Roman times . Nearby was the city of Scaptia , the center of the later Roman tribe Scaptia. After the fall of the Roman Empire Cineto came under the control of the Lombards and was since 755 part of the Papal States .
