Location of Norma in the province of Latina

Norma is 67 km southeast of Rome and 20 km north of Latina . It lies above the steep southern slope of the Monti Lepini above the Pontine plain . It is a member of the Comunità Montana Monti Lepini e Ausoni .

The community is located in earthquake zone 3 (little risk).

The neighboring municipalities are Cisterna di Latina , Cori , Montelanico ( RM ), Carpineto Romano (RM), Bassiano and Sermoneta, clockwise .

history

The Volscerstadt Norba was already 492 BC. BC, Roman colony. During the imperial era, the place was abandoned for unknown reasons. It was not until the Middle Ages that the place was re-established in its current position, about one kilometer southeast of the ancient city. Today's Norma was first mentioned in the 8th century.

Attractions

Norma preserves a medieval town center, which is in an impressive location above a steep slope and offers views over the Pontine plain to the sea.

  • Directly on the western edge of the village lie the ruins of the ancient volcanic city of Norba , which are freely accessible. The preserved Cyclopean walls are particularly impressive .
