The Monti Lepini , German Lepinische Berge or also outdated Volsker berge , are a low mountain range in the Italian region of Latium . It is located about 60 kilometers southeast of Rome , between the Sacco valley and the Pontine plain .
In contrast to the neighboring Albanian Mountains , the Lepine Mountains are not of volcanic origin, but rather karstified limestone mountains.
The Lepine Mountains extend about 35 kilometers in a west-east direction and 20 kilometers in a north-south direction. They are very sparsely populated and are crossed by the state road SS 609 Via Carpinetana .
