Eugeniusz Czykwin (born September 12, 1949 in Orla ) is a Polish politician and journalist, he is involved in the Orthodox and Belarusian community and was a member of the Sejm in the IX. and X. Election Period ( PRL ) as well as the I., IV., V. and VI . Election period ( Third Republic ).

He graduated from the Faculty of Rail Transport at Warsaw University of Technology . In 1980 he became chairman of the Theologian Circle of Orthodox Schools for Theologians, Laity and Youth (later known as the “Brotherhood of Orthodox Youth”), the first mass movement of Orthodox lay people in the Eastern Bloc. In the 1980s he became a member of the National Council of Patriotyczny Ruch Odrodzenia Narodowego (Patriotic Movement for National Revival - PRON), a member of the Presidium of the PRON Voivodeship Council in Białystok and a member of the Voivodeship Board of the Society for Polish-Soviet Friendship in Białystok. Since 1985 he has been editor-in-chief of Przegląd Prawosławny (Orthodox Newspaper), the first newspaper of this type in post-war Poland . From 1985 to 1991 he was the first representative of the Polish Orthodox Community to be a member of the IX and X electoral term of the PRL Sejm for the Unia Chrześcijańsko-Społeczna .

From 1991 to 1993 he sat in the Sejm for the list of Komitet Wyborczy Prawosławny (Orthodox Electoral Committee). In 1991 he was co-initiator of the Law on State Relations with the Polish Orthodox Church . In the parliamentary elections in 1993 and 1997 he organized an election committee for the national minority in Podlaskie , which, however, was never able to bring its candidates to the Sejm. In 2001 and 2005 he was elected to the Sejm on the list of Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej (Federation of Democratic Left - SLD). In the fourth electoral term he worked on the law on national and ethnic minorities and regional languages. In the 2007 parliamentary elections , he was elected for the sixth time with 14,234 votes for the constituency of Białystok. He is deputy chairman of the Sejm commission for national and ethnic minorities, as well as a member of the commission for environmental protection.

On April 22, 2008 he moved to the Lewica faction .

According to the Instytut Pamięci Narodowej (Institute for National Remembrance - IPN), Czykwin was recruited as an unofficial employee in 1983 by the Służba Bezpieczeństwa (Security Service - the PRL's secret police). Since 1997, Czykwin has repeatedly stated in his lustration statements that he was never IM.
