The province of Frosinone (Italian Provincia di Frosinone ) is an Italian province in the Lazio region . The capital is Frosinone .
The province borders in the north on the Abruzzo region ( province L'Aquila ), in the east on Molise ( province Isernia ), in the southeast on Campania ( province Caserta ), in the south on the province Latina and in the west on the metropolitan city of Rome .
The landscape of the province is defined in the north by the Monti Simbruini, the Monti Ernici and the Monti della Meta, foothills of the Abruzzo region . In the center, the broad valley of the Sacco and Liri is the most densely and most industrialized area. In the south, the Monti Ausoni and Monti Aurunci close off the province from the Pontine coastal plain .
The province has a share in the Abruzzo , Lazio and Molise National Park : the most important river is the Garigliano .
The province was newly formed on January 2, 1927 from the eastern part of the province of Rome, the Ciociaria countryside and the western part of the Terra del Lavoro province . Today, especially when it comes to tourist marketing, the entire province of Frosinone is often equated with the Ciociaria.
