geography

The municipality of Colfelice has been crossed by the Via Latina , today's Via Casilina (SS 6), since ancient times . Colfelice is close to the A1 Autostrada del Sole motorway , between the Pontecorvo and Ceprano exits .
With Colfelice station , the place is on the Avezzano-Sora-Roccasecca railway .
history
In the north of the municipality, on Via Ara Murata, the remains of an extensive villa were excavated in 1976, which document the settlement of the area in ancient times.
Villa Felice
Villa Felice is the older of the districts and possibly goes back to such a villa from Roman antiquity. In the Middle Ages it was also called Le Case (The Houses) for short . It was first mentioned in 1229 in a report about a fire in the place. It belonged to the Dukes of Arce most of the time .
Coldragone
Coldragone was founded in 1583 by Giacomo Boncompagni , Duke of Arce, as a settlement for farm workers. The name refers to the heraldic animal of the Boncompagni, the dragon (Italian = dragone), which still adorns the municipal coat of arms today. However, the place developed slowly. It was not until 1742 to 1746 that Gaetano I Boncompagni had a church built. In 1796 the Duchy of the Boncompagni fell directly to the Kingdom of Naples and became part of the Terra del Lavoro province . In 1813 it became part of the Rocca d'Arce municipality.
Colfelice
Coldragone and Villa Felice were spun off from the Rocca d'Arce municipality by state decree in 1923 and became an independent municipality with the name Colfelice . In 1927 it became part of the newly established province of Frosinone. In the last 30 years the change from the agrarian villages to an industrial location took place.
