Attractions
The medieval castle on a hill in the north of the town center was abandoned in the 17th century and a palace was built in its place below, which today is the residence of the Counts Spezza as Palazzo Spezza; he has a baroque garden with statues. Significant sacred buildings are the two churches of S. Pietro and S. Giovanni Battista, which dominate the west and east of the town center. About halfway between them is the Palazzo Comunale with three arcades on the ground floor; in the small square in front of him there is a modern fountain. In the eastern district of Tomacella rises directly above the Sacco river, the Palazzo Colonna or Villa Tomacella , built after 1625 by Filippo Colonna , the first marquis of Patrica from his family, after he had acquired the place together with the title; he named the building after his wife Lucrezia Tomacelli, who died in 1622 .
