politics

From January 25 to 29, 1995, the first party congress of the Alleanza Nazionale , the successor of the right-wing extremist Movimento Sociale Italiano (MSI), took place in Fiuggi . The party distanced itself from fascism. Its change from a neo-fascist to a democratic right-wing conservative party is therefore referred to in the Italian press and political science literature as svolta di Fiuggi ("Wende von Fiuggi").

Virginio Bonanni (list of citizens) was elected mayor for the second time in April 2005. In 2010 Fabrizio Martini (Lista Civica) was elected as the new mayor.

Fiuggi has been a twin town of the German city of Helmstedt since 1986 .

Sports

In the past, the city was a stage of the Giro d'Italia several times .
