Pescosolido is an Italian commune in the province of Frosinone in the Lazio region with 1492 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It is located 117 km east of Rome and 36 km northeast of Frosinone .

geography

Pescosolido lies on the edge of the Sora plain on a foothill of the Brecciosa (1890 m). A large part of the municipality belongs to the Abruzzo, Latium and Molise National Park . It is a member of the Comunità Montana Valle di Comino .

The neighboring towns are Balsorano ( AQ ), Campoli Appennino , Sora and Villavallelonga (AQ)

history

Although there are numerous archaeological finds from ancient times, Pescosolido was first mentioned in writing in 1159. In 1229 the place was destroyed by Frederick II , because he had sided with the Pope. After it was rebuilt, it belonged to the Boncompagni family until it fell directly to the King of Naples in 1796 .

In 1915 an earthquake caused severe damage.

Ferdinando Baglioni (list of citizens) was elected mayor in June 2004. Giuseppe Cioffi (Lista Civica: Crescere Insieme) took over this position on May 26, 2014.

Attractions
