history

Trevi was named Treba a city of the Aequer , which in the 4th century BC. Was incorporated into the Roman Empire. During the imperial era it was named Treba Augusta .

In the Middle Ages, in order to protect itself against the claims of the Subiaco Abbey , the place joined the Counts of Segni . Later it came to the Caetani . In 1471 Cristoforo Caetani was driven out by the population. So it came into the possession of the Abbots of Subiaco until 1638.

After the Second World War, Trevi suffered from severe population emigration. In the meantime, however, new jobs have been created in tourism through the construction of a thermal bath and the use of the Altipiano di Arcinazzo.

From 1970 to 1978 Trevi gave the titular diocese of Trebia Augusta its name.
