history

San Biagio was already populated by Samnites before it was incorporated into the Roman Empire. A Samnite necropolis near the village reminds of this .

After the Battle of Garigliano , some Saracens fled to the mountains near San Biagio to hide here. The surname Saracinisco still reminds of this today .

In the Middle Ages the village was of little importance and belonged to different masters. During the Second World War, the population of San Biagio was taken to a camp near Rome on January 15th by the German occupation. During the advance of the Allies, the village was completely destroyed as a result. So today the tourist interest is concentrated on the spectacular nature. Numerous holiday homes were built for residents of the surrounding cities.
