Balsorano (in the local dialect: Balz'rana ) is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 3379 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo . The municipality is located about 62.5 kilometers south-southeast of L'Aquila am Liri and is part of the Comunità montana Valle Roveto . Balsorano borders directly on the province of Frosinone .

history

The origin of the community lies in the founding of the capital in the 10th century. The actual community was not created until 1809. In 1915 the parish was badly damaged by the Avezzano earthquake. The Castello Piccolomini from the 15th century was also affected .

traffic

Strada Statale 690 Avezzano-Sora runs through the municipality from north of Avezzano to Sora . In the main town and in the district of Ridotti-Collepiano there are train stations on the Avezzano to Roccasecca railway line .
