Morino is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 1388 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo . The municipality is located about 74 kilometers south of L'Aquila , belongs to the Comunità montana Valle Roveto and borders directly on the province of Frosinone ( Lazio ). The Liri flows on the eastern border of the municipality.

In 1915 the community was badly affected by the Avezzano earthquake . The old town of Morino was completely destroyed and abandoned in order to be rebuilt further downstream. The ruins of the houses and the old streets of Morino Vecchio are still visible today.

The Civita d'Antino-Morino train station is on the Avezzano to Roccasecca railway line . Strada Statale 690 Avezzano-Sora forms the eastern boundary of the municipality .
