Civitella Roveto is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3144 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo . The municipality is located about 49 kilometers south of L'Aquila am Liri and is part of the Comunità montana Valle Roveto . Civitella Roveto borders directly on the province of Frosinone .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1061. In 1915, the parish was seriously damaged by the Avezzano earthquake .

Strada Statale 690 Avezzano-Sora runs through the municipality from north of Avezzano to Sora . The main town has had a train station on the Avezzano to Roccasecca railway since 1902 .
