Castelvecchio Subequo is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 870 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo . The municipality is located about 37 kilometers southeast of L'Aquila am Aterno in the Sirente-Velino Regional Park and belongs to the Comunità montana Sirentina .

history

As a Superaequum , the place was an important settlement of the Peligner , an Italian, d. H. Oscar-Umbrian people who lived here in the first millennium BC.

traffic

The former Strada Statale 5dir Via Tiburtina Valeria (now a regional road) leads through the municipality from Rome to Pescara . From here the former Strada Statale 261 Subequana goes to L'Aquila . The train station of Molina-Castelvecchio Subequo is on the railway line from Terni to Sulmona and is on the border with the neighboring municipality of Molina Aterno .
