The Sirente-Velino Regional Park ( Italian Parco naturale regional Sirente-Velino ) is located in the Italian region of Abruzzo , in the province of L'Aquila .
The nature park has existed since 1989 and has an area of 564.5 km².
It is one of the largest and most important protected areas in Italy and is the only regional park in the Abruzzo region. Typical representatives of the fauna are the European brown bear ( Ursus arctos marsicanus ) and the Italian wolf ( Canis lupus italicus ).
The two mountain ranges Sirente and Monte Velino are particularly worth seeing .
