Regional parks in Italy
The regional parks in Italy (Italian: Parchi regionali ) include land, river, lake and in some cases also marine areas near the coast. The nature parks are characterized by a high proportion of ecologically valuable natural landscapes and traditional cultural landscapes .
The establishment and management of regional parks was regulated by decree ( Decreto del Presidente della Repubblica ) 616/77 and handed over to the area of competence of the individual regions . The EUAP ( Elenco ufficiale delle aree protette , in German: Official Directory of Protected Areas ) currently lists 134 regional parks with a total area of 1.3 million hectares . The following list also includes nature parks that are not included in the EUAP.
