The Parco naturale del Gran Bosco di Salbertrand is a natural park in the Cottian Alps ( Italian metropolitan city Turin , Piedmont region ).

The nature park was founded in 1980 and is located in the upper Susa valley . It extends over an area of ​​3,774.74  hectares in the municipalities of Chiomonte , Exilles , Oulx , Pragelato , Salbertrand and Sauze d'Oulx at an altitude between 1000 and 2600 meters above sea level.

The Parco naturale Gran Bosco di Salbertrand consists largely of fir forests with large larch groves and pastures. In addition to around 600 plant species, it is home to over 70 bird and 21 mammal species ( e.g. deer , roe deer and chamois ).

On the high plateau between the Val di Susa and the Val Chisone , a memorial at the Testa dell'Assietta ( 2565  m ) commemorates the battle of the same name , in which in 1747 during the War of the Austrian Succession the French attacked the French who were heavily outnumbered.
