The Pesio (Piedmontese Pes ) is a 48 km long Italian river in the province of Cuneo in Lower Piedmont . It is a tributary of the Tanaro in the Po river system .

The Pesio rises at about 2200 m above sea level at Punta Marguareis (2651 m) and takes in several streams in the Ligurian Alps . Partly a torrent, it has in the upper course at Certosa di Pesio (10 km south of Chiusa) a gradient of 1,800 meters in altitude to only 10 km. Here is the nature reserve Parco naturale del Marguareis .

In the further course of the Valle Pesio are the places Vigna, San Bartolomeo, Chiusa di Pesio (the largest municipality) and Pianfei . This is followed by the plateau of Mondovì and Rocca di Baldi , where the waters of the Brobbio flow in. After another 10 km it flows into the Tanaro at Magliano Alpi , just a few kilometers below the mouth of its eastern parallel river Ellero .
