history

The Peligna valley was already populated in the first millennium BC by the Peligners, an Oscar-Umbrian people. Presumably the municipality was also settled. However, there is no evidence of this. There is evidence of an Ostrogoth tomb from the 6th century AD. The place was first mentioned in a document in 997. In 1170 the fortification of Pratula ( castrum pratulae ) is handed over to the Norman prince Wilhelm II .

traffic

The A25 motorway runs through the municipality from Rome to Pescara and the Strada Statale 17 dell'Appennino Abruzzese e Appulo Sannitica from L'Aquila to Isernia and on to Foggia . On the railway line from Rome via Sulmona to Pescara there is a train station in Pratola Peligna.
