Rocca di Cambio

Rocca di Cambio is a municipality ( comune ) in the province of L'Aquila in the Abruzzo region in Italy and has 480 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). The municipality is located about 15 kilometers south-southeast of L'Aquila in the Sirente-Velino Regional Park and belongs to the Comunità montana Sirentina .

In 1953, the parish was one of the filming locations for the film Don Camillo's Return, starring Gino Cervi and Fernandel .

Sports

The municipality is not only known as a ski area, but was also a stage location of the Giro d'Italia several times, especially in the 1960s . The Giro last stopped here in 2012.

traffic

The former Strada Statale 5bis Vestina-Sarentina (now a regional road) leads through the municipality from L'Aquila to Celano .
