Bugnara is an Italian commune with 1,077 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo . The municipality is located about 53 kilometers southeast of L'Aquila on the Sagittano , belongs to the Comunità Montana Peligna and is a member of the association I borghi più belli d'Italia (The Most Beautiful Places in Italy).

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in the 6th century. The Marienkirche was built around 1000. During 2009 L'Aquila Earthquake parts were destroyed by Bugnara.

The A25 autostrada runs through the municipality from Torano Nuovo to Pescara (without a connection) and the former Strada Statale 479 Sannita (now a regional road) from Sulmona to Villetta Barrea .
