Capistrello is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 5038 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo . The municipality is located about 38.5 kilometers south of L'Aquila and borders directly on the province of Frosinone . Capistrello is part of the Comunità montana Valle Roveto .

Capistrello is on Strada statale 690 Avezzano - Sora , an expressway. Furthermore, the former Strada Statale 82 della Valle del Liri and the former Strada Statale 579 Palentina (both today regional roads) led through the municipality. The railway line from Avezzano to Roccasecca was built from 1884 to 1902. Train stations are in the districts of Capistrello, Cupone and Pescocanale.
