Scoppito is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 3812 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo . The municipality is located about 12 kilometers west-northwest of L'Aquila and is part of the Comunità montana Amiternina . Scoppito borders directly on the province of Rieti .
