Stefan Gallon

Stefan Gallon (* 1951 in Wuppertal ) is a German diplomat and has been consul general in Dubai since 2014 .

Life

After graduating from high school , Gallon studied law and economics at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn .

After completing his studies, he joined the Foreign Service in 1978 and, after completing the career test for the higher service, was employed at the embassy in Egypt from 1980 to 1983 and then at the embassy in Romania until 1986 . After a subsequent assignment from 1986 to 1989 in the Political Department of the Foreign Office in Bonn in the department for fundamental questions of East-West relations, Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE), delegation of the Federal Republic of Germany to CSCE meetings in London and Sofia, he worked at the Consulate General in Houston between 1989 and 1992 and during this time also belonged to the delegation to the G7 summit in Houston in 1990 as well as to the CSCE summit preparation meeting in Vienna (July to November 1990) and the CSCE summit in Paris (November 1990) .

Gallon then worked at the Embassy in Lithuania from 1992 to 1994 , before returning to 1998 as a consultant in the Political Department of the Foreign Office responsible for the British Isles, Scandinavia , the Baltic States and the Baltic Sea Council. Subsequently, between 1998 and 2001 he was Embassy Permanent Representative of the Ambassador in Thailand and then until 2004 Head of Section in the Department for Foreign Cultural and Educational Policy.

In 2004 he became envoy head of the department for economy and science at the embassy in Japan and was then envoy and permanent representative of the ambassador in the Czech Republic .

From 2010 to 2014 Stefan Gallon was Consul General in Guangzhou / Canton. In August 2014 he moved to Dubai / United Arab Emirates as Consul General, from where he retired in summer 2016.
