Navelli is an Italian municipality in the province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo and has 531 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). The municipality is located about 30.5 kilometers east-southeast of L'Aquila , belongs to the Comunità montana Campo Imperatore-Piana di Navelli , is a member of the association I borghi più belli d'Italia (The Most Beautiful Places in Italy) and borders directly on the province of Pescara .

history

Already in the 4th century BC there was a settlement called Incelurae in today's municipality . A temple of Hercules was located near today's church of Santa Maria in Cerulis .
